Cricketer Asif arrested in Dubai

Test cricketer Mohammed Asif has been arrested at Dubai Airport on recovery of contraband from his possession.

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) sources confirmed the reports regarding his arrest, saying, PCB is trying to get his cleared from Dubai officials.

Mohammed Asif was on his way back home after playing in Indian Premier League (IPL) in India.

Asif, who was arrested on Sunday night here, has confessed his guilt of possessing illegal drugs.

PCB sources said Mohammed Asif was to appear in a court today.

It should be mentioned that opium was found in his custody while on his way to Pakistan and the UAE laws regarding contrabands are quite severe in nature.

PCB is to hold a press conference here in this connection.

Talking to media, Asif asserted, ‘I still say that the airport officials found no opium from my custody. I was intoxicated and slapped an airport official.’
