Pakistan Cricket Board is expected to name the preliminary squad comprising 30 probable for the ICC Champions Trophy today. According to PCB sources, National Selection Committee headed by Salahuddin Sallu has finalized the list of preliminary squad, which could be announced any time today.
Shoaib Akhtar, Muhammad Asif and Umer Gull are also among the squad however their final selection in final 15 would depend on their fitness level. Asif will have to clear Board’s inquiry also, it said.
Wicketkeeper batsman Kamran Akmal dropped from Asia Cup is likely to be named in the squad.
The PCB’s selection committee has also completed its necessary homework for four-nation Twenty20 tournament to be played in Canada.
